Play off at the Kazan Floorball and Unified Floorball tournament kicked off

This is the time for big games of the All-Russian National Special Olympics competitions

On Thursday, the games of the group tournament within All-Russian National Special Olympics Floorball and Unified Floorball Competitions finished and determined the play-off teams. Before the medal games began, the Aide of the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin had visited the Badminton Center. He stressed out the importance of delivering such competitions and sounded confident about the dignity Kazan will stage the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2022 with.

“Staging the Special Olympics is of great importance. I am pleased that we will have a chance to be present at the competitions where the guys will demonstrate that they are on par with other children and can do sport, be in a team and enjoy the life. It is vital! These are not regular competitions, there are certain requirements, but I am certain that Kazan will handle them. See you at the Games,” stated Igor Levitin.

Unified Floorball

In unified floorball, first place was claimed by the team from Saint Petersburg, which defeated Ulyanovsk representatives with a 6:1 score in the morning match. Interesting enough that within a couple of hours these teams met again in match to get into the final, and this time the guests from the Neva riversides achieved a more confident victory – 9:0.

Republic of Tatarstan-1 placed second in the finals.

Saint Petersburg – Ulyanovsk – 9:0

Republic of Tatarstan -1 – Republic of Tatarstan -2 – 6:4

“Our opponents in Kazan are strong, confident, they play a good game. There are different teams but you can always find an opponent as you are. The tournaments like this is a great opportunity for socialization for people with mental disabilities, so that the community could have a better dialogue with them, to have a social environment. Emotions are exceptionally positive. The teams struggle to get the maximum, which is everything you need from sport. Female floorball players from Moscow were unbeatable in this tournament. They claimed several big victories at the group stage and in the semifinals scored 13 balls into the Tatarstan-1 goal. In the finals, they will face the opponents from Saint Petersburg. In a group, Moscowites won twice – 12:2 and 6:2, but how will it go this time?

Moscow – Republic of Tatarstan -1 – 13:1

Saint Petersburg – Republic of Tatartan-2 – 11:0

Men, division 1

The team from Moscow was undefeated in the group matches and whitewashed Saint Petersburg in the semifinal. Kazan is yet to fight for bronze.

Moscow – Saint Petersburg – 9:0

Kazan – Kemerovo Oblast – 0:5

Men, division 2

The tournament final in the division 2 will feature the teams from Ryazan Oblast and Zelenodolsk. During the group matches, they tied 2:2 with nobody’s win. Novosibirsk and Perm will have a scramble for the third place.

Finals and third-place matches are scheduled for Friday.
