June 1 is the first day to recruit the volunteers for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2022

Preparation for the volunteers’ recruiting for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2022 takes the final stage.

Preparation for the SOWWG volunteers’ recruiting is in its final stage. Today the Recruiting Center operations were tested in the Universiade Village. This activity was the final ‘credit’ for the participants of the Volunteers’ Academy 2021 Russian Educational Camp having taken place on May 20-25. The camp attendees had an in-depth look into the recruiting procedure, its specifics, and 2022 Games special aspects as well as acquired the interviewing skills that will allow them to participate in one of the most important stages of the volunteering program, i.e. volunteers’ selection.

On June 1 the volunteers’ selection will have an official kick off. It was announced by the Deputy Director General of the ANO “Directorate for Sports and Social Projects” Aleksandr Karpov who oversees the preparation and training of the volunteers’ team. The organizers received over 4.5 thousand applications out of which 2,250 volunteers will get a green light. “Shortly we will begin the recruiting process. Educational program is scheduled for autumn so that well-trained and educated team of volunteers will be engaged in the Games,” Aleksandr Karpov highlighted.

Special Olympics World Winter Games will take place in Kazan on January 22-28, 2022. Games sports program will comprise competitions in seven sports: alpine skiing, snowboarding, floorball, cross country skiing, figure skating, short track speed skating, and snowshoeing. The event will bring together over 2,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and Unified Partners from 101 countries.
