Republican Volunteer Forum told about the Special Olympics values

Today, on March 18, the attendees of the Republican Volunteer Forum, taking place in the Volga Youth Center, discussed the values of the Special Olympics movement and its mission. On the forum site, volunteers got to know about the movement and its history and were also invited to join the volunteer team of the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2022.

The morning commenced with an open discussion that featured First Deputy Director General of Special Olympics Russia Maria Rakova, Director General of the ANO “Directorate for Sports and Social Projects” Maksim Denisov, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Alla Kondratyeva, and others. The Special Olympics movement athletes Irek Safin and Leysan Zaripova also attended the session. Chairman of the Special Olympics of the Republic of Tatarstan Larisa Parfenova moderated the meeting.

Maksim Denisov introduced the gathered volunteers to the general information about the upcoming Games: sports, competition venues, their principles, and told about the competitions volunteer program. A separate forum session was also devoted to this matter. What is more, representatives of the general partner of Special Olympics World Winter Games – Coca Cola Company – shared their experience on why it is vital to develop volunteering and inclusion.

About the Special Olympics World Winter Games Kazan 2022

On January 22-28, 2022, Kazan will host Special Olympics World Winter Games that will bring together over 2,000 athletes with developmental disabilities and Unified Partners from 106 countries. They will be joined by about 3,000 volunteers and 4,000 honored guests and their family members from across the globe.

Special Olympics World Winter Games is one of the most prestigious sports events for people with intellectual disabilities. The Games are an integral part of the global Special Olympics movement (Special Olympics) and aimed at the creation of an inclusive world and social involvement of the people with developmental disabilities. Embodying the genuine Olympic values, the Special Olympics World Games are held out of the world’s political agenda. This is precisely why they do not have medal standings and competitive race amongst the countries. Their mission lies in contributing to the development of the inclusive society, having provided equal opportunities to the people with intellectual disabilities to display their sports skills and gifts, and to the people without disabilities – a chance to get better acquainted and become a part of the Movement and inclusive culture on the whole.

About the Games volunteer program

The volunteer team of the Special Olympics World Winter Games will comprise as many as 3,000 people. They will assist the Organizing Committee in more than 20 functional areas, among which are sport, IT, spectators’ services, medicine, DAL, media operations, arrivals and departures, protocol, and many others.

To submit an application please:

1.     Create a personal account at www.volunteers.dspkazan.com;
2.     Submit an application for participation and sign up for the interview, which is a part of the recruiting campaign implementation;
3.     Await the proposal for the position in the personal account on the website;
4.     Undergo the training.

About the Republican Volunteer Forum

On March 16-19, the Volga Youth Center is home to the Republican Volunteer Forum #НаДобройВолне (“On the kind wave”). The Forum organizers are the Autonomous Non-profit Organization “Information and resource center of volunteering of the Republic of Tatarstan” with the support of the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Forum’s goal is to establish a single direction of the conceptual development of volunteering in municipal authorities and educational organizations of higher education and technical vocational education of the Republic of Tatarstan. The overall number of participants is 150 people.
