On 29 January - 4 February 2022, Kazan hosts the II Special Olympics Russia Winter Invitational Games.

Special Olympics World Winter Games Kazan 2022 presented at the "Kind Tatarstan" Republican Award Ceremony

Kazan continues to sum up the results of the "Year of a Volunteer”. The Special Olympics World Winter Games stand was presented at the exhibition timed to the "Kind Tatarstan" Republican Award Ceremony in volunteering.

The "DobroPark" exhibition was located on the second floor of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism.

During the day, there was a possibility for everyone to learn more about the upcoming Special Olympics World Winter Games Kazan, which take place in January 2023, to apply for participation as a volunteer as well as to have an interview for preliminary selection.

The Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin visited the stand. Aleksandr Karpov, Deputy Director General at the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, presented the activities of the Kazan Volunteers movement and the progress of the Games volunteer program application and selection campaigns.

The Head of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan highly evaluated the work on attracting volunteers for the Games and expressed confidence that all volunteers will be recruited and trained to successfully receive guests and athletes from 97 countries in the hospitable capital of Tatarstan.

The restart of the Special Olympics World Winter Games volunteer campaign was announced in early December. Earlier, due to the postponement of the Games to 2023, the selection of volunteers was suspended, despite the fact that 5,875 applications were received from candidates from 82 regions of Russia and 70 countries.

Currently, the information campaign and recruiting are taking place. They will run until next spring to recruit a team of 2,200 volunteers.

As usual, candidates for volunteers for international sports projects are required to know English and other foreign languages and be willing to participate in the Games during the entire period.

After the selection process, future volunteers must undergo compulsory training, including a special training program, because the main participants of the upcoming event are the athletes with intellectual disabilities, which makes the volunteer education and training program particularly special.

You can join the volunteers team on the official website of the Games.
