Special Olympics movement makes children self-confident


At the stands of the Sviyaga Hills Ski Resort, Inna Perfilieva from the Chelyabinsk oblast roots for her children, so her support helped her sons Kirill and Pavel perform successfully in Kazan.

“Yesterday we won two golds at the Invitational Games, which gave us very colorful impressions. It seems to me that the children have not understood what happened yet,” Inna says. “Special Olympics movement is very important for children with inclusive abilities. It is vital for them to do something, have a goal, hold medals in their hands. It gives them confidence in life, which means a lot. Such holidays are very necessary. I wish the participants new acquaintances, meetings, and future trips. It is so exciting for them, this is their life.”

Other participants of the Invitational Games shared Inna’s words and noted the excellent level of organization and were willing to return to Kazan in 2022 for the Special Olympics World Games.

“My son Gleb has been going in for alpine skiing since 2015. He did not like the skis, and when he got up on the board, he fell for this. It started spinning right away. Thanks to our coach, we handled the task!” notes Ekaterina, mother of the Games participant Gleb Abdullin, who madу the top three in the giant slalom event. Ramil Girfanov, Andrey Skibin, Artyom Farkhutdinov, Nikolay Fyodorov, Semyon Fedotov, and Dmitry Tyufyakov were the other winners.

Anna Kushnaryova and Elena Nazarzoda representing the Sverdlovsk oblast showed the girls’ best time.

“Today everything came out. I have been snowboarding for two years. I also love swimming,” Anna said.

At the same time, the final 2.5 km free technique and the 4x1 km relay events were held in the Lokomotiv sports complex. Roman Uramov, Evgeniy Arkhipov, Nikolay Eremeev, Anna Syropyatova and Ruslana Marchenko became the winners in their divisions. Ten-degree frost did not embarrass the participants, and at the end of the competition, they headed to the Volga Region Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism for the awards ceremony, where they could share their impressions. Many of them attended the presentation of the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2022 logo and were delighted with what they had seen.

On February 7, Sviyaga will host the slalom finals, while Lokomotiv – 100m classical and 1 km free technique finals.
